Think about the last time a shop asked you to “download our app to collect points”. Did you? And if you did, how often did you open it again?

Your customers are the same. Hardly anyone wants another app, but everyone opens LINE every day. That’s why membership and points for small shops in Thailand have moved into LINE.

This post explains what CRM in LINE is, how it works without customers downloading anything, the options you have, and where a small shop should start.

What CRM in LINE means

CRM is remembering each customer and using that to bring them back (the long version: What is CRM?). CRM in LINE is doing that where your customers already are.

For a customer it’s three things:

  • A membership card they open in LINE, with their name, stamps, points and coupons.
  • Booking in LINE, without messaging to ask for a time.
  • Messages: confirmations, reminders and gifts, delivered to LINE.

For the shop, it’s a customer list that knows who’s who, how often they come, what they’ve collected and how to reach them.

Why there’s no app to download

LINE has something called LIFF: web pages that open inside LINE. When a customer taps your link or scans your QR, the membership card or booking page opens right there in LINE, and LINE tells the page who the person is (once they allow it).

So:

  • No sign-up: no password, no typing a phone number for an OTP.
  • No app: it runs in the LINE they already have.
  • The shop knows it’s the same person every time, so points and history never get lost.

Compare that with a paper card left at home, or “give us your number to collect points”, which means staff searching every time.

Your options for membership in LINE

There are three main routes, each suited to a different kind of business.

1. LINE Official Account’s built-in tools

LINE OA comes with basic tools such as a reward card, follower tags and broadcasts. They’re a good start and you can use them today. Great if you want one simple card.

Worth knowing: those points live in LINE OA, separate from your customer list and your bookings. To see when a card holder last came, or what they usually book, you look somewhere else.

2. LINE CRM platforms for big brands

Several companies in Thailand build LINE membership systems for big brands and chains, with member levels, campaigns and detailed reports. They do that job well, but setup usually takes a while and the pricing is usually aimed at larger businesses.

3. A booking system with customers and loyalty built in

This suits service businesses, because points come from real visits. A customer books, comes, the booking is completed, and the stamp or points appear by themselves. Customers, bookings and cards live in one place.

LINE OA tools Big-brand LINE CRM Booking with customers and loyalty
Ready to use Now Setup usually takes longer The same day
Points come from Scanning at the shop Purchases, campaigns Completed bookings, packages, stamps at the counter
Visit history Kept apart Yes, if connected to sales Yes, from real bookings
Best for One simple card Chains and big brands Service businesses and clinics

LINE loyalty: stamps, points or coupons

Most online membership systems use three mechanics. Pick one or mix them:

  • Stamp cards: 10 visits, the next one free. The easiest to understand, best when your services cost about the same.
  • Points on spend: 1 point per 25 baht, traded for rewards. Best when prices vary a lot.
  • Coupons: an amount off, a free service or a gift, given when someone joins, on their birthday or when they’ve been away a while.

A full comparison, with a worked example of rewards that don’t lose money, is in Loyalty and membership systems for small shops. Still want paper? There are templates to download in Stamp card templates.

Start a LINE membership in 4 steps

Whatever tool you use, this order tends to work for small shops:

  1. 1Pick one clear rewardLike "8 visits, a free gel manicure". Don't start with a page of rules: customers should get it in one sentence.
  2. 2Put the QR everywhere customers lookThe counter, beside the mirror, on the nail desk, in the booking confirmation. Say what scanning gets them.
  3. 3Say it out loudOne sentence at the till, "Scan here and get your first stamp now", beats every poster.
  4. 4Reach the people who drift awayAfter a couple of months, see who's gone quiet and send each of them a we-miss-you coupon.

A good online membership system can do step 4 by itself. The first three are the shop’s job, and they take minutes.

What a LINE membership system should do

Whatever you choose, check these:

  • Customers open their card in LINE with no sign-up or app
  • Stamps and points arrive from visits, without staff having to remember
  • Walk-ins can collect too
  • Staff find a customer’s card fast, for example by scanning a QR
  • The shop sees points and visit history on the same customer page
  • Birthday and “come back” coupons go out by themselves
  • Promotions go only to customers who agreed (PDPA)
  • Customers without LINE can still use it by email or on the web

Membership and points in Tellfox

Tellfox is a booking system in LINE with customers, stamp cards, points and coupons in one place. Customers book through your link or QR, it opens in LINE, and Tellfox knows who they are straight away.

A stamp card the customer opens in LINE from the My cards menu

For customers

  • The LINE menu has Book · My bookings · My cards.
  • My cards shows stamps, points and coupons (active, used, expired) with their terms and end dates.
  • A member QR sits at the top of the card, to show at the counter.
  • They trade points for rewards right in the card.
  • Customers without LINE book and see their card on the web, signing in with their email.

For the shop

  • Completed bookings earn stamps or points by themselves, and so can attended classes and packages bought, as you choose.
  • For walk-ins, staff scan the member QR with their phone camera and tap Add stamp, or Use on a coupon.
  • Or tell the AI assistant in LINE: “Khun Som just came in, give her a stamp.” It shows a preview with her new count and gives the stamp when you tap Confirm.
  • Welcome, birthday and “we miss you” coupons (after the number of days you set) are given automatically.
  • Stamps, points, coupons and bookings all sit on the same customer page.
  • Coupon messages go only to customers who agreed to offers on that channel.
Tell the AI assistant in LINE, then check the preview before you tap Confirm

Already have your own LINE OA? Keep using it as you do: put your booking link in its chat or menu.
